off the Faery Yurt · through the door by the phonograph · for listening, not scrolling
Behind the Faery Yurt · through the door by the phonograph
The Music Room
Just the music, with nothing to scroll past: the phonograph, the records, and a chair in the dark.
If you came for the songs and not for the rest of the yurt, this is the room. The phonograph is in here with my whole playlist on it, and every song on the yarn stands on a shelf as a record you can take out and put on. The window is open on the night, the candles never flicker, and the raven on the sill does not mind what you play. Nothing starts until you press it.
HOW LOUD DO YOU WANT IT?
Starts wherever your device says. In here MAX turns the record; nothing else moves unless you ask it to, below, and the candles stand still.
Faeries drifting between the candles, and ivy and mushrooms growing very slowly round the edges of the room. Each stays still until you press it, whatever the dial says, and pressing again clears it. Nothing is stored.
The Soundtrack
The sound of the yurt is a yarn of songs I keep coming back to, spun into one playlist. Press play and it runs from the top until you stop it; nothing plays before you press.

Or take a record off the shelf: press its sleeve and it goes on the phonograph in place of the whole yarn and plays. Every sleeve says how long the record runs before you press it, nothing plays until you do, and taking it off puts the yarn back without starting it.

Read off the yarn on 2026-10-13, in its own order. A song I add plays on the whole yarn straight away, and turns up here the next time somebody reads the playlist again.
The rest of the yurt, the lights, the gallery and the door to the books, is back through the door, and the same phonograph plays there too.
Job marker — a moth asleep on the phonograph's horn
You have found a job marker. The Adventurer’s Guild is a shopfront on the street, and it posts jobs that send you round these rooms. Take the code below to its board and that job is done. Nothing here is scored, nothing expires, and one is a perfectly good number of jobs to do.
The job: A moth asleep on the horn
