THE PLAYHOUSE
This is the room with the toys in it. Every object on this page does something when you touch it, and every object is a real idea from the glossary wearing a costume.
TODAY'S SECRET WORD
MONOTROPISM
You know what to do when somebody says it. (what it means)Press something. Every toy answers on itself, and this box keeps saying what happened, out loud, for anyone who cannot see the room wobble.

THE DOUBLE EMPATHY TELEPHONE Two handsets and one conversation that went wrong. Pick up either end and you get that person’s honest account of it. Damian Milton’s double empathy problem: the gap is between two people, and neither of them is the broken one.

HOUSE RULES
Every toy is a real button. Tab reaches it, a screen reader names it, and it works without a mouse. A playhouse you cannot get into is a diorama.
Sound is on press only. The room is silent when you walk in and stays silent if you never touch anything. Most of the noises are synthesised here; the yell button also holds 2 recorded yells from our community, played one at a time and only when you press it. Nothing else is fetched from anywhere.
Gentle mode keeps the toys. It takes away the wobble and the confetti, not the things to press.
SEND US A YELL
The yell button can be your voice. Record yourself yelling — badly, hoarsely, briefly, whatever comes out — and it joins the others, one chosen at random each time somebody presses.
A voice identifies you as surely as a face does, so this keeps the same promises the polaroid wall makes: you say how you want to be named or stay anonymous, the room says whose yell it was out loud, your recording carries no onward licence, and one message takes it down without a conversation.
Send it through the Stimpunks contact page or in our community.
HOW LOUD DO YOU WANT IT?
Starts wherever your device says. Nothing moves, flashes, or plays until you say so.
THE SOUND BOARD
Nine keys, three by three where there is room for it and one column on a phone. The first six make one noise each, for as long as you keep pressing them. The last three have moods, and each one shows the mood it is about to play.
The last three keys are not a feelings chart. Nobody here is being asked to identify an emotion, match it to a face, or perform one, and there are no faces anywhere on this board. What changes between the moods is the shape of a noise — a hum that lifts, a hum that sags, a hum with a buzz in it. A sad noise is a perfectly good thing to want. You can leave a key on angry and go and do something else.
Nothing is counted and nothing is kept. Press one key ninety times or press all nine once; the board has no memory, no total and nothing to finish. At MAX GLITTER every key throws something different across itself. At Gentle it throws nothing and says exactly the same words.
Job marker — a wooden block with a letter on it
You have found a job marker. The Adventurer’s Guild is a shopfront on the street, and it posts jobs that send you round these rooms. Take the code below to its board and that job is done. Nothing here is scored, nothing expires, and one is a perfectly good number of jobs to do.
The job: A block off the floor
Quest code: WOODBLOCK
