Spaceholder Saloon
For spaceholding, venting, solidarity, straight up bitchin’, and anything else those on spoon fumes want to bring and have a space to share or leave them here.
On the menu
Spaceholder Saloon only serves up patience, a listening ear, and a good ol’ fashioned root beer or mocktail.
-
Sarsaparilla
The root beer’s rougher cousin, cold out of a brown bottle.
-
Hot cocoa
As many marshmallows as the mug will hold, and then a couple more on the saucer.
-
A tall glass of ice water
Free, and refilled before you notice it’s low.
-
A Shirley Temple
Extra cherries, no charge, no comment.
-
Ginger beer
Sharp enough to wake you up a little, if that’s what you’re after.
-
A covered bowl of pretzels
Lid on, scoop beside it. Nobody’s hands have been in there.
-
Quiet, by the glass
For when you’d rather not talk at all. Sit with it as long as you like.
Pull up a seat
-
The rocking chair
Closest to the fire. Rock as much or as little as you want; the chair keeps time so you don’t have to.
-
The swing
Hung from the rafters by the hearth. Feet up or feet down, still or swinging.
-
A table for one
For when you want company in the room but not at your elbow. Nobody will sit down unless you wave them over.
-
The big table
Room for everybody who turns up, and there’s always another chair to drag over.
Leave it here
There’s a row of hooks by the swinging doors. Hang up whatever you walked in carrying and leave it there as long as you like.
This saloon keeps no ledger. There’s nothing to fill in, and nothing you bring here is written down or sent anywhere.
Credits: who made this noise
- Norah thought up the Spaceholder Saloon and wrote its welcome and the menu board, and described the light by the fire.
- The headings, the menu items and their descriptions, the seat descriptions and the hooks by the door were drafted by Claude for Norah to change.

HOW LOUD DO YOU WANT IT?
Starts wherever your device says. Nothing moves, flashes, or plays until you say so.
Job marker — a bottle cap, off a sarsaparilla
You have found a job marker. The Adventurer’s Guild is a shopfront on the street, and it posts jobs that send you round these rooms. Take the code below to its board and that job is done. Nothing here is scored, nothing expires, and one is a perfectly good number of jobs to do.
The job: Nothing written down
Before the code: What does the Spaceholder Saloon keep none of?
Hint 1
It is under Leave it here, beside the hooks.
Hint 2
A book a shop or a saloon writes its accounts in.
Last hint
Where a bartender would write down your tab.
Give me the answer
The answer is A ledger. A ledger: there is nothing to fill in, and nothing anybody brings to the saloon is written down or sent anywhere.
Taking the answer is a real way through this, not a lesser one. Nothing is watching and nothing is written down.
Quest code: BOTTLECAP
That is the one.
