through a door off the Town Hall · the base’s radio
Moderators
A room for Stimpunks Moderators to meet.
What the base looks after
- The CB’s house norms, at the Community Center: BASE is the one mark on the channel that is checked, and only the base can take a message off the air before midnight.
- Our covenant, which applies in every Stimpunks space, and is where our norms and how we repair harm live.
- The calls: the base moderates every room’s call, lets guests in from the lobby at Cavendish Coworking’s open meetings, and is the only one who can record a call or turn on transcription, and then only after saying so in the call.
- Reports: anybody can reach us privately, and our concern reporting policy says how a concern is handled.
Talking
The channel and the call in here are for any moderator: moderators sign on at the Community Center with the moderators’ password, under a handle on the moderators’ list. Anybody can come in and look around, and the radio waits outside the door for everybody else.
This browser is not signed on as a moderator this room is for, so the call in here is not yours to join. Moderators sign on at the front desk.
The call is run by 8x8’s Jitsi as a Service, and the server hands a pass into it to the moderators this room is for and nobody else. Camera and microphone start off, and we keep nothing about a call. What goes where.
Why the street’s own light
Because this is the room that looks after the street, and the street is what lights it. There is no lamp in here: the shopfronts’ colours come up through the window and lie on the ceiling side by side, none of them mixed into the next, which is how the street is meant to stay. The radio on the desk is off while nobody is using it. Nothing in the room moves, at any setting.
Whose words
The room’s line is Ryan’s, from his brief for the Town Hall. What the base looks after is written from the street’s own house norms and our privacy page, and points at our covenant and our concern reporting policy on stimpunks.org rather than restating them. Oxanium is Severin Meyer’s and Inter is Rasmus Andersson’s, both under the SIL Open Font License; the room is ours. More in the liner notes.
Job marker — a spare fuse, left on the windowsill
You have found a job marker. The Adventurer’s Guild is a shopfront on the street, and it posts jobs that send you round these rooms. Take the code below to its board and that job is done. Nothing here is scored, nothing expires, and one is a perfectly good number of jobs to do.
The job: What lights the room that looks after the street
Before the code: What lights the Moderators' room?
Hint 1
There is no lamp in the room.
Hint 2
Look at the ceiling in the drawing, and at what is under the window.
Last hint
The room is up above it.
Give me the answer
The answer is The street. There is no lamp in the room: the shopfronts below throw their own colours up through the window, and they lie on the ceiling side by side.
Taking the answer is a real way through this, not a lesser one. Nothing is watching and nothing is written down.
Quest code: NIGHTWATCH
That is the one.
